This building is where we store our select hardwoods and customer’s furniture to be repaired and refinished. Walnut, Cherry, Oak, Hickory, Ash, Maple, and Mahogany are just some of the hardwoods we keep on hand for custom building and furniture repair. We also sell small cut-offs and larger boards of wood direct to the public. The public is welcome to walk through and tour our workshop with caution. The craftsmen are willing and open to answer your questions while you watch them work. In the workshop you may see old furniture being repaired, a custom ordered piece being built, or one of the standard designs from our brochure. Our Finish room is located in the basement. Here our highly experienced finishers hand sand, rub, and oil each piece of furniture to perfection. Our finishing process begins with the spraying of a varnish sanding sealer followed by two to three more coats of a satin varnish. Between each coat of finish, the furniture is hand-sanded. After the last coat of finish is applied, the piece is hand-sanded and then hand-rubbed using steel wool, to obtain our smooth satin-rubbed finish. Finally, we apply a coat of rubbing oil, which removes the sanding and steel wool dust and reveals the depth of our finish. In this area, glass and hardware are assembled for each piece and a final inspection is done to ensure that your piece is ready for pick-up or delivery. The many pieces you see are a mixture of old repaired and refinished items, as well as new furniture. Our gift shop is full of unique solid wood items for sale. Many gifts items and small furniture can be made in different woods or designed differently to meet your needs. Adjacent to our gift shop is the showroom where we have many pieces of furniture on display and for sale. Most furniture items on the floor are designs in our brochure and are made in a variety of woods. Since we have limited display space, there are several larger pieces for sale in our finished warehouse that can be purchased. This concludes our on-line tour.
